I Hope...

Image
While singing along in the car, I felt goosebumps rise on my arms and warm tears fill the brim of my eyelids.  At first I thought, "what the heck?"  Then I realized it was the words of the song on the radio that were pulling at my heartstrings.  I've heard and sang the song a million times before, but never to my two sleeping angels, peaceful in their carseats, trusting in me to get them home safe, trusting me to teach them about the world passing outside their windows, teaching them how to live .     Read the words to this song.  Sing the words to your babies.  Show them how to dance. I hope you never lose your sense of wonder, You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed, I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when y...

A Life that's Good

Image
I couldn't have said it better myself.....One of my favorite songs     Sittin' here tonight, By the fire light, it reminds me I already have more than I should.   I don't need fame, no one to know my name, at the end of the day, Lord I pray, I have a life that's good.    Two arms around me, heaven to ground me, and a family that always calls me home, Four wheels to get there, enough love to share and a sweet sweet sweet song At the end of the day, Lord I pray , I have a life that's good.   Sometimes I'm hard on me, When dreams don't come easy, I wanna look back and say, I did all that I could, Yeah at the end of the day, Lord I pray, I have a life that's good. Two arms around me, heaven to ground me, and a family that always calls me home, Four wheels to get there, enough love to share and a sweet sweet sweet song at the end of the day, Lord I pray I have a life that's good Lik...

That was Me

Occasionally I rummage through the console in my car to see what long lost treasures I can find.  Recently it was a semi-scratched cd that I slid into the cd player.  As Kenny Chesney's voice filled my car, a song came on that took me back a few (ok more then a few) years and made me smile (the yellow highlighted parts are really what I connect(ed) with; She hit the door, 6:55 Sack full of groceries split down the side Canned goods scattered all the way to the curb Look on her face sayin "don't say a word" So it's me and her and a can of beans Sittin there on the front porch swing A western sky all turnin red Head on my shoulder, she sighed and said I've been gopherin, chaufferin, company chairman Coffee maker, copy repairman Anymore there ain't nothin I swear man That I don't do I been jugglin, strugglin, closin big deals Dancin backwards in high heels Just when it feels like I can't make it through She said, it sure is nice to j...

Anything Like Me

Image
Scott & Little Scott It's been awhile since I posted a song that summed up our lives.  The song below could bring tears to my eyes during pregnancy.  These days when I hear it, I can only smile.  Here is our song to our baby boy... Anything Like Me By Brad Paisley I remember sayin' I don't care either way Just as long as he or she is healthy, I'm okay And then the doctor pointed to the corner of the screen And said, "You see that thing right there? Well, you know what that means" I started wondering who he was going to be And I thought heaven help us if he's anything like me He'll probably climb a tree too tall and ride his bike too fast End up every summer wearin' something in a cast He's gonna throw a ball and break some glass In a window down the street He's gonna get in trouble, oh, he's gonna get in fights I'm gonna lose my temper and some sleep It's safe to say that I'm gonna get my payback I...

When I said "I Do"

Image
As I wrote my wedding vows, I let my heart guide my pen.  I wanted to stress that this union was the one the past 29 years had prepared me for.  Through sunny skies and gloomy days we would walk through all of them, together.  His handwritten vows were a mirror to mine.  As we spoke those words, there was no way to predict that within a year we would deal with sickness, pain, and loss.  We rode out those stormy days by leaning on each other and keeping our eyes on the horizon that glows bright.  Our vows were more than words recited at our wedding, they are our way of life. This song could not have said it better; " When I Said I Do " These times are troubled and these times are good And they're always gonna be, they rise and they fall We take 'em all the way that we should Together you and me forsaking them all Deep in the night and by the light of day It always looks the same, true love always does And here by your side, or a mill...

Holy Emotions!

I'm sure it's a combination of a crazy Drs. appointment on Tuesday, Scott being out of town all week, and a sprinkle of pregnancy hormones, but I just lost it.  Sitting at my desk, warm tears streaming down my cheeks like they've got somewhere to be, and the inability to make it stop.  The song "Anyway" by Martina McBride just came on my IPOD.  I listened to the words closely for the first time ever and they hit me like a ton of bricks. The chorus could be our theme for our experience with being pregnant.  With tissue in hand, I give you the lyrics... You can spend your whole life buildin' Something from nothin' One storm can come and blow it all away Build it anyway You can chase a dream That seems so out of reach And you know it might not ever come your way Dream it anyway God is great But sometimes life ain't good And when I pray It doesn't always turn out like I think it should But I do it anyway I do it anyway This world...

Marry Me Today and Every Day

Image
Music has the amazing ability to stir up an old memory, put goose bumps on your arms, or maybe even bring a tear to your eye. Recently while driving home from work, I had that very thing happen. I had never heard the song before, but it basically summed up the story of a guy and girl that met in a cafĂ©. Sounds like the story of a guy named Scott and a girl named Kara to me. Here’s the song; Forever can never be long enough for me Feel like I've had long enough with you Forget the world now we won't let them see But there's one thing left to do Now that the weight has lifted Love has surely shifted my way Marry Me Today and every day Marry Me If I ever get the nerve to say Hello in this cafe Say you will Say you will Together can never be close enough for me Feel like I am close enough to you You wear white and I'll wear out the words I love And you're beautiful Now that the wait is over And love and has finally shown her my ...
