Holy 8 Months!!!

Birth            8 Months                                        7lbs 5oz       17lbs- ish                                       19.5 inches    27+ inches She's soft and squishy and smells like Heaven.  Oh....and she's 8 months old!! We've got another fully mobile kid on the loose.  Her crawling is more of a leap frog move, but she gets where ever she wants to go and fairly quickly.  She can reach high above her head to pull down/reach objects.  She can pull herself into a seated position from her stomach.  With her new found mobility and enjoyment in toys, she and Paisley are starting to play ...

That was Me

Image
Occasionally I rummage through the console in my car to see what long lost treasures I can find.  Recently it was a semi-scratched cd that I slid into the cd player.  As Kenny Chesney's voice filled my car, a song came on that took me back a few (ok more then a few) years and made me smile (the yellow highlighted parts are really what I connect(ed) with; She hit the door, 6:55 Sack full of groceries split down the side Canned goods scattered all the way to the curb Look on her face sayin "don't say a word" So it's me and her and a can of beans Sittin there on the front porch swing A western sky all turnin red Head on my shoulder, she sighed and said I've been gopherin, chaufferin, company chairman Coffee maker, copy repairman Anymore there ain't nothin I swear man That I don't do I been jugglin, strugglin, closin big deals Dancin backwards in high heels Just when it feels like I can't make it through She said, it sure is nice to j...

7 Months of Learning and Life

Birth              7 Months                                               7lbs 5oz        17lbs-ish    19.5 inches      27+ inches (My scale is on the fritz and I can't get this baby to lay straight  for an accurate length, hence the "ish" & "+" So this post is almost a month late...but that's ok because I've been spending time with this busy bundle of loveliness.  Lots of firsts and life have been happening for our littlest fish. Firsts - Lila enjoyed her first plane ride!  We flew to Colorado and she happily nursed until she fell asleep, then slept the entire flight.  I wore h...

Life with Two

Image
Life with one was busy...life with two is fairly chaotic. Chaotic...who? Us?! I never really thought of how different life with 2 would be.  Sure I knew it would be double the laundry, double the laughs, double the mess, a baby in each arm....but the word "hard" never crossed my mind.  I'll be the first to admit that life with 2 small children (723 days apart) is hard. They already give me that look When Lila was first born I felt an enormous amount of guilt.  I was exhausted, taking care of an infant and not able to give 100% of myself to Paisley.  While he didn't act like he was enormously troubled by me suddenly having another little person to take care of, I literally felt awful.  I blame most of that on hormones and (luckily) I don't feel so guilty anymore about giving him a sibling. There were numerous times Paisley would "need" me while I was either feeding Lila or changing her diaper.  Both of those tasks were difficult to quit in th...

184 Days (6 Months)

Image
Hello world!     Birth                6 Months 7lbs 5oz           16lbs 11oz     19.5 inches        26.5 inches Miss Yuck Face I can remember the exact feeling of her rolling over in my belly.  I vividly remember her preference for chocolate milk and her disdain for the smell of breakfast meats.  In 184 days, we met our daughter, introduced her to our families, kissed those cheeks over a thousand times, and fell more and more in love each and every day.  Six months has passed in the blink of an eye.   Our little Dolly continues to be a happy morning baby.  Her internal alarm goes off between 7-7:30am and I hear her squeals float across the hall in to our room.  I'll lay there and listen for a few minutes, enjoying her vocalizing her excitement over experiencing a new day.  I love the ways her eyes widen as she sees me walk int...

5 Months with our Little Bean

Image
Birth              5 Months 7lbs 5oz        15lbs15oz 19.5 inches      25+ inches Her 5th month of life was much easier to manage then her 4th month!  Her sleep schedule at night wasn't quite as whacky this month (thank goodness!).  She is still going down around 7:30, waking around 1:30am, 5:30am, then up for the day around 8.  Once she wakes for the day, she'll roll around in her crib and coo until I get her.  As soon as she sees me, her eyes widen and a sweet gummy smile fills her face.  Now as I scoop her up, she wraps her arms around my necks and pulls her face into me.  Her warm little head always smells so sweet and the feeling of her little velvet head brushing my lips is almost intoxicating. She still refuses to take a bottle but is an excellent (and frequent) eater otherwise.  I continue to let her nurse on demand but she will hold off for a few hours if we are ...

2013 Wrap-Up and Send-Off!!

Image
Starting 2013 as a family of 3 Baby #2 January -Our annual ski trip took the Fish3 (plus my momma) to Beaver Creek for a long weekend of skiing.  The wintry weather was perfect and Paisley and my mom had a great time playing in the condo while Scott and I hit the slopes.  We had a big secret that we kept a secret all month long! February -It was a month full of morning sickness and keeping our secret a little longer.  I got to spend Valentine's Day with my two favorite boys. March -Easter came early this year as well as a dose of warm weather.  We spent some time at the playground and finally let the cat out of the bag.  Baby #2 was on it's way! April- We hosted our gender reveal party for our family and loved watching the excitement of cutting into a pink cake. May -We purchased a couple acres of farm land and a brick home.  Scott began renovations.  It was a big undertaking, but the end results were well worth it.  Going forward, I ...
